Fitting Instructions for DRY Vinyl Decal Application

1. Clean the surface first.
   Make sure to clean the substrate (auto panel, colour bond, acrylic panel etc.) with a clean cotton cloth. Use water and detergent to clean off dirt and give it a last wipe with methylated spirit, or vinyl prep to get rid of grime and grease (wipe dry).
   Make sure when using solvent cleaners, it does not affect the surface of your substrate.

2. Measure up before applying.
   Before applying vinyl decal, measure out margins and reference points where to position the decal.

3. Understand the 3 layers of your vinyl decal.
   Vinyl decals are made up of 3 layers:

   • Layer 1 is the backing layer made mostly out of paper with a shiny silicon surface.
   • Layer 2 is the actual vinyl layer with artwork attached to the backing paper.
   • Layer 3 is the transfer paper (top layer) which holds the artwork such as lettering together. (It is obvious if there is a paper top layer. Some of our stripes don't have the paper top layer)

4. Secure the decal with masking tape.
   Place vinyl decal on to substrate with strips of masking tape on each end. Apply masking tape vertically through the centre of vinyl decal (2 pieces about 80mm apart).

5. Apply the decal.
   Take off masking tape strip at one end of vinyl decal and peel back the backing paper from the vinyl layer and transfer paper to the centre of decal.
   Cut off backing paper with a sharp blade (razor blade or scalpel) and hold vinyl layer with transfer paper in one hand and squeegee vinyl decal from centre outwards.
   Remove masking tape. Do the same with the other side of vinyl decal.

6. Finish up.
   After applying vinyl decal with squeegee, peel off transfer paper. Use a sharp blade or needle and prick out air bubbles if needed.

   • Do not install in extreme heat or cold.
   • Never install bonnet decals to a hot bonnet.

Note on application tape:

• If the decal or stripe has a paper cover it can be gently peel off.
